Good Bye 2020, Hello 2021

Hope this message finds you all well!

Many of us have had a rough year, working the front lines during a pandemic, role changes, lay offs, hurricanes and many of us have even had COVID. This year has brought many changes: virtual conference, virtual meetings and grab and go dinners. Even through all the challenges and changes that 2020 has thrown at us, we have proved how vital our profession is, proved we are safe and provide excellent patient care; heck,we have made it almost an entire year without the need for a CPA under the executive order!!!

I want to congratulate all of the new NP's and those still in school, who have had to find a new normal, find preceptors, when there were even fewer than normal to be had.

I want to congratulate all of you for making it through! You represent what being a Nurse Practitioner means! You show heart, commitment, truth, integrity and passion for the health of your communities.

I want to Thank You. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for being the face of LANP- NOLA. Thank you for accepting Melissa, myself and now Jake as your reps for the NOLA region.

I want to encourage you to become more involved in the coming year. Whatever that means for/to you, join a committee, join us for a volunteer event, attend virtual and hopefully soon in-person meetings, network and get to know other like-minded professionals. I encourage you to use your voice, please let us know your ideas, scope of practice questions and your professional struggles. I encourage you to become involved in FPA efforts, meet with your legislators, educate them on what we do and how we are (you don't have to do it alone, we go in groups, or on Zooms). Mostly I encourage you to grow and learn and to continue to make our profession great by leading and setting examples.
