LANP annual conference is coming soon!!! GNO summer update

Good morning GNO LANP members,

I hope you all are well and survivng the summer heat. I just wanted to send a quick update on all things LANP

1) Annual conference is in Alexandria! Registration is open for both in person and on demand options. The dates are September 23-26th. The 2 nearest hotels to the River Center are the Holiday Inn Downtown and the Bently ( historic and rumored to be haunted)!!! This year as in the past will include your Opiod education requirements for the state and your DEA.

2) the Louisiana NP Foundation's Golf tournament is fast approaching ( July 30th) in Marksville, LA. Please reach out if you are interested in volunteering, playing or sponsoring.

3) Every year, EACH region is responsible for providing 2 prizes for the conference raffle/silent Auction and for providing wine for the wine pull. We have raised a good bit of money to help pay for these prizes. But if any of you have connections to get a discountdonation of a prize, or wine; I would appreciate the connection to help get the best for our $$.  Prizes in the past have included hotel stays, restaurant gift certificates, zoo/aquarium/children's museum tickets, grills, purses, art work, etc. I am always happy for suggestions on what kind of prizes you would like to see at conference.

4) Region meetings: Unfortunately last month (June), one of the reps had to reschedule and we were only able to host one meeting. This month, however, we are having 2. The first in Thursday July 15th and the topic is PHTN and Interstitial Lung Disease, space is limited and the waitlist is activated. If you are currently registered and you have a change of plans, please cancel your registration ASAP so that the seat can be filled by the next member in line. The 2nd meeting this month will be July 28th and will be discussing Twirla a new FDA approved patch hormonal birth control. Space is also limited, so please cancel if your plans/availability change. ***** PLEASE, be considerate of your peers and only register for one meeting a month***** We have 358 members in our region and would love to be able to share the opportunity to partake in this membership benefit to as many members as possible. August has 2 meetings scheduled and in the works. September has 1 definite and 1 in the works. November has one definite and I am reaching out to other reps to secure meetings for the rest of the year. If you meet a rep that is interested in hosting, PLEASE pass on their info.

5) Legislative Push.... so the puch for FPA has not stopped. Please continue to reach out to your local representative and senators, educate them on what you do, establish relationships, set up meetings, continue to call and email. If you need help or want tips on what to discuss, PLEASE reach out to us or to the health policy committee.

6) if you have a NP friend and they aren't a member, find out why ( please let me know, we are always looking for ways to increase our member benefits) and please encourage them to join.
