GNO region and Statewide updates

Hope everyone is recovering well from Ida.
Last night 09/16/21 we had the state wide zoom meeting with CE opportunity. The presentation on COVID/Mental health and the Neuro effects was extremely interesting, very informative and gave great tips for applying research and treatments in practice. If you were unable to attend, please consider logging on to the main LANP page, going under education and clicking the presentation ( you can earn 1 CE/Pharm CE).
Topics covered under LANP business
1) Annual conference has been moved to a virtual plat form. Live sessions will be 09/23-26/2021; On-Demand sessions will be available until 11/31/21. Opportunity to earn up to 59 CE ( up to 36 pharm CE).
- PLEASE be sure to cancel your hotel reservation ASAP if you made one already

2) License renewals: 1st half of Alphabet will renew this year.
- Online renewals will open in October
- According to the SB 55 (act 76) of 2017: all prescribers of controlled substance MUST submit a ONE TIME 3 credit CE on controlled substance in order to renew licensure. This MUST be MAILED to the LSBN prior to renewal. LANP has offered a 3 hour CE that has can satisfy this requirement at the last 3 conferenced and will be offered this coming conference at the SUNDAY presentation.
- Prescribing APRNs in the state of Louisiana must obtain 6 CE yearly to maintain licensure eligibility
3) NP EXCELLENCE award
- nominations close 09/15/2021 and must be submitted electronically via form on main LANP page

4) Small town health professionals tax credit
- Primary Care Providers approved to received a nonrefundable tax credit of $3600 unless subject to proration for the 2021, applications DUE by SEPT 31, 2021.

5) Louisiana NP foundation scholarships

6) Executive order by Gov. Edwards to suspend the CPA
- initiated 03/31/2020
- currently expires 09/29/2021
- recent updates have allowed for Certified NPs from other states to practice in LA to help fill the greater that 160 NPs needed in the federal request for assistance
7) PAC
- we will continue to raise money for PAC in our region through donations and raffles

- Please be on the look out for a "Parade of Prizes" raffle that will be held instead of the usual silent auction at conference. There are some REALLY GREAT prizes... Details to come!!!
- Pearls & Pinstripes: Party with PAC ( Awards, Dinner and a Band) tentative date in November, more details to come
8) Region meetings:
- August 31 and Sept 7 meetings being rescheduled for November and December, dates and details to come
- September 15 meeting, space is still available if you would like to join us, please resister under events. The venue is in New Orleans, so proof of vaccination or Negative PCR test with in the last 72 hours must be presented
- October: 1 tentative X-linked hypophosphatemia, 1 scheduled on Tartive Dyskinesia. 1 tentative on CGMs
- November: 3 possible 4 meetings tentatively scheduled.
- Will be having a region Health Policy zoom. Will post details once date and time are set. PLEASE make every effort to attend this meeting. There will be door prize for those who attend.
